Your New Zealand Marriage Licence Application
Planning on getting married in New Zealand? Whether you are a New Zealand resident or from abroad you are required to complete a Marriage Licence Application prior to getting married in New Zealand. This service is included in all our wedding packages, Ultimate New Zealand Weddings will take care of all the paperwork for you so your Marriage Licence will be ready and waiting for you to collect when you arrive to New Zealand. We have been working very closely with the Department of Internal Affairs for some time now and are quite familiar with their requirements and processes. Collection of your Marriage Licence is very simple. The Marriage Licence can be picked up from the (Birth, Deaths and Marriages) Registry office from which is has been processed through, most are located in all major cities in New Zealand such as Christchurch, Queenstown, Auckland etc. Ultimate New Zealand Weddings would have already completed the required paperwork for you so it is ready for you to collect. It is an extremely simple process.NOTE: All Marriage Licence applications require either the bride and or groom (one of the persons whose name will appear on the marriage licence) to sign a declaration witnessed by a Commonwealth Representative upon collection of your Licence.
All Marriage Licence's are valid for 3 months from the date of issue. Process of a Marriage Licence Application takes a minimum of 3 days.
Are you collecting your Marriage Licence from Queenstown? Any Marriage Licence that is being collected from the Queenstown Registry Office MUST be paid for on the day. This facility does not accept over the phone credit card payments so all clients therefore we are not able to make the payment for as we do with all other registry offices. This amount required is NZ$122.60 which has been deducted from all Queenstown associated wedding packages for you.
Will Our NZ Marriage Be Recognised Back Home?
In approximately 2 to 4 weeks after you are married, Ultimate New Zealand Weddings will apply for your Marriage Certificate on your behalf . Your Marriage Certificate will then arrive to your front door back home without you having to do a thing. Your New Zealand marriage will then be recognised in the country you live. You are then able to change particular legal documents, drivers licences, certificates, health funds, bank details etc by using your new Marriage Certificate.
